I travel quite a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having my dinner alone in cafes. I often take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in ZANESVILLE OH where I ate at Papa Chucks Restaurant and I read a really interesting cover story to do with bamboo. I had no idea you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a great choice for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and bought a few basic items of clothing.
I must tell you I was very impressed. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I think is amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic clothing stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo sheets.
After a little more research I found some other interesting facts to do with bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo requires little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
