I travel quite a lot for my work and so often end up having dinner alone in local restaurants. I usually take a book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Recently, I was in YORK BEACH ME where I ate at Surfside Restaurant and I read a new cover story about bamboo clothing. I did not realise you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a great possibility for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and purchased a couple pieces of clothing.
I should say I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was almost dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I think is amazing. I also noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After some more research I found some incredible details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
