I travel a lot for my job and so often end up having dinner alone in cafes. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in WOODINVILLE WA where I ate at Facelli Winery and I saw a new cover story on bamboo. I did not realise you could make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a great possibility for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and got a couple basic items of clothing.
I must admit I was very impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After some more research I found out some other amazing details about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows extremely rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo requires little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
