I travel quite a lot for my job and so often end up having dinner alone in restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in WILMINGTON NC where I ate at Big Oak Barbecue Jacksons and I came across a really interesting cover story on bamboo clothes. I had no idea you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a good option for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and purchased a few basic items of clothing.
I must admit I was very impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic apparel stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After a bit more research I found some incredible pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires very little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
