I travel a lot for my job and so usually end up having dinner alone in restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in WESTFIELD NJ where I ate at Buona Pizza Inc and I saw a new cover story about bamboo clothing. I did not know you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a excellent option for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and bought some basic items of clothing.
I should tell you I was pretty impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some other amazing facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
