I travel quite a lot for my work and so often end up eating all alone in restaurants. I often take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in WEST TISBURY MA where I ate at Icehouse Restaurant and I came across a new piece about bamboo clothes. I did not know you could make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent which means it is a good option for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and got a few basic items of clothing.

I must tell you I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After a little more research I found some other incredible pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires very little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
