I move around a lot for my studies and so often end up having my dinner alone in local restaurants. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in WEST HELENA AR where I ate at Kelly's and I came across an interesting cover story on bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent which means it is a good possibility for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and purchased some basic items of clothing.

I should admit I was pretty impressed. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I think is amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.

After some more research I discovered some more amazing details on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find some articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
