I travel a lot for my job and so usually end up having dinner all alone in restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in WATERTOWN MA where I ate at Kareem's Restaurant and I came across an interesting article about bamboo. I did not know you could make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a excellent choice for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and bought a few basic items of clothing.
I must say I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I think is great. I also noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some more amazing details to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires very little water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find more details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
