I travel quite a lot for my studies and so usually end up having my dinner alone in cafes. I often take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in VALLEY STREAM NY where I ate at Good & Good Deli & Grocery Inc and I read an interesting cover story on bamboo clothes. I did not know you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a good choice for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and bought a few pieces of clothing.

I must admit I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was almost dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After some more research I discovered some other interesting pieces of information on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs little water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
