I travel a lot for my work and so usually end up having dinner alone in cafes. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in TROUT RUN PA where I ate at Steam Valley Restaurant and I saw an interesting piece on bamboo clothes. I did not realise you are able to make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a good option for gym wear or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and got some items of clothing.
I must say I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I think is amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some more amazing details on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires little water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
