I travel quite a lot for my work and so regularly end up having dinner all alone in local restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in TOLEDO OH where I ate at Ahmed's Family Resturants and I saw an interesting cover story to do with bamboo clothing. I had no idea you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a excellent possibility for gym wear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and bought a couple pieces of clothing.
I should tell you I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I think is great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some more amazing pieces of information about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires very little water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
