I travel a lot for my work and so often end up eating all alone in restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in TAYLORVILLE IL where I ate at Green Gables Restaurant and I saw a new piece on bamboo clothing. I did not know you can make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a excellent option for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and purchased a couple pieces of clothing.

I have to tell you I was extremely impressed. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I thought was great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.

After some more research I found out some other incredible details on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find some articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
