I travel a lot for my job and so regularly end up eating alone in cafes. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in TAMPA FL where I ate at Mambos Cafe and I saw a really interesting cover story about bamboo. I did not know you could make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a great choice for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and bought a few items of clothing.

I should say I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. I also noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothes stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.

After some more research I found out some other amazing facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find some details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
