I travel a lot for my studies and so usually end up having my dinner by myself in cafes. I often take a book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in TAMPA FL where I ate at Landmark Cafe and I came across a really interesting cover story on bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a excellent choice for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and purchased a few basic items of clothing.
I have to say I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was almost dry after I took it from the washing machine which I thought was great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I discovered some more interesting pieces of information on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
