I travel quite a lot for my studies and so often end up eating all alone in restaurants. I often take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in STOCKTON CA where I ate at Ho Ho Express Chinese Restaurant and I came across an interesting cover story about bamboo. I had no idea you could make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a excellent possibility for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and purchased a couple items of clothing.

I must tell you I was extremely impressed. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.

After a little more research I found some more incredible details to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find some articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
