I move around a lot for my job and so regularly end up having my dinner alone in local restaurants. I usually take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in STILLWATER OK where I ate at Rons Hamburger & Chili and I read an interesting article about bamboo. I did not realise you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a good option for gym wear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I went online and purchased a couple items of clothing.

I must tell you I was pretty impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.

After a little more research I found some other interesting pieces of information on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses very little water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.

I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
