I travel quite a lot for my job and so usually end up having dinner by myself in local restaurants. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in STILLWATER OK where I ate at Curlys Old Fashioned Char-Broiled Hamburgers and I came across a new cover story to do with bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a great option for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and got a few pieces of clothing.
I should say I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I found to be amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found some other incredible pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses very little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
