I travel quite a lot for my studies and so usually end up eating by myself in local restaurants. I usually take a book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in SEATTLE WA where I ate at Phinney Ridge Cafe and I saw a new piece on bamboo clothing. I did not realise you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a great option for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out for myself. I went online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.
I should say I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I think is great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate doing ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothes stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo linen.
After some more research I found some more incredible pieces of information on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
