I travel a lot for my work and so often end up eating by myself in local restaurants. I usually take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Recently, I was in SANTA FE NM where I ate at Sleep Inn Santa Fe and I read a really interesting piece to do with bamboo clothing. I did not realise you could make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a good possibility for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and purchased a few basic items of clothing.

I should say I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I think is amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After a bit more research I found some other interesting pieces of information on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
