I travel a lot for my job and so usually end up having dinner all alone in local restaurants. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in SANFORD NC where I ate at Jersey Mikes Subs and I saw a new piece about bamboo. I did not realise you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a great possibility for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and purchased some basic items of clothing.
I have to tell you I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it from the washing machine which I thought was great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After some more research I found some more incredible pieces of information about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
