I travel a lot for my job and so regularly end up having dinner by myself in cafes. I like to take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Recently, I was in SAN JOSE CA where I ate at Blake's Steakhouse and Bar and I came across a really interesting cover story on bamboo clothes. I did not know you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent which means it is a good choice for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and bought a couple pieces of clothing.
I must admit I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I think is great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I discovered some more incredible facts to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
