I move around a lot for my studies and so usually end up having my dinner by myself in cafes. I often take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in SAN FRANCISCO CA where I ate at Val 16 Market and I read a really interesting piece to do with bamboo clothing. I did not realise you can make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a good option for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.

I should tell you I was very impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I think is amazing. I also noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I hate doing ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothing stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.

After a little more research I discovered some incredible facts about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find more information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
