I travel quite a lot for my job and so usually end up eating by myself in cafes. I like to take a book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in SALEM MA where I ate at Georgio's Pizza and I read a new piece on bamboo clothing. I had no idea you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a good option for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and purchased a couple items of clothing.
I must say I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a bit more research I found out some more interesting pieces of information about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses very little water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
