I move around a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having my dinner alone in restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in SALEM NH where I ate at Sal's Just Pizza and I read a really interesting article about bamboo clothes. I did not realise you could make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a good option for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and got some basic items of clothing.
I must say I was extremely impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are many organic clothing stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After a bit more research I found some more incredible facts to do with bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo needs little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
