I travel a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having dinner all alone in restaurants. I usually take a book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Recently, I was in RENTON WA where I ate at Genes Restaurant and I read a really interesting cover story about bamboo. I did not know you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a excellent choice for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and purchased a couple basic items of clothing.
I have to tell you I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I found to be great. I also noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothes stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo sheets.
After a little more research I found out some more incredible facts to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
