I travel quite a lot for my studies and so often end up eating alone in restaurants. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in RAYMOND ME where I ate at Frye's General Store & Cafe and I saw a really interesting cover story about bamboo clothes. I did not realise you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a good choice for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and purchased some basic items of clothing.
I should admit I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I think is incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
Find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothes stores where you can get organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After a little more research I found out some interesting details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo needs very little water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
