I travel a lot for my job and so usually end up having my dinner all alone in local restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in RALEIGH NC where I ate at 42nd Street Oyster Bar & Seafood and I came across an interesting cover story on bamboo clothes. I did not realise you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a excellent choice for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and got a couple pieces of clothing.
I should tell you I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I think is great. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some other amazing details to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo requires little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
