I move around a lot for my job and so regularly end up having dinner by myself in cafes. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in PUEBLO CO where I ate at Angelo's Pizza Parlor North and I saw a really interesting article on bamboo clothing. I did not know you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a excellent choice for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.
I must admit I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was almost dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I think is incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic clothing stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After a bit more research I found out some amazing pieces of information about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo uses little water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
