I move around a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having dinner by myself in cafes. I usually take a book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Recently, I was in PORT ANGELES WA where I ate at Coburns Cafe and I read a new cover story to do with bamboo. I had no idea you could make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a good choice for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and got a couple pieces of clothing.
I should admit I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After some more research I discovered some incredible pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows extremely rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo needs very little water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
