I travel a lot for my job and so usually end up having dinner all alone in restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in PATERSON NJ where I ate at Alkumah Top Halah Meat and I saw an interesting piece to do with bamboo clothing. I did not realise you are able to make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a good possibility for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and got a few basic items of clothing.

I must say I was pretty impressed. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After a bit more research I found some other interesting pieces of information on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires very little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.

I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of details on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
