I travel a lot for my studies and so often end up having dinner alone in restaurants. I often take a book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in PANAMA CITY FL where I ate at The Place and I saw a really interesting cover story on bamboo. I did not know you could make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a great option for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.

I should say I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.

After a little more research I discovered some more interesting facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs very little water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.
