I travel a lot for my studies and so usually end up having my dinner all alone in cafes. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in OYSTER BAY NY where I ate at Harborside Delicatessen and I saw a new piece to do with bamboo clothes. I had no idea you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a good choice for gym wear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and purchased a few basic items of clothing.
I must say I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found out some more incredible details to do with bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
