I travel a lot for my job and so often end up having dinner alone in local restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in ORLANDO FL where I ate at Franklin Restaurant and I read a really interesting article about bamboo clothes. I did not know you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a great possibility for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and purchased some basic items of clothing.
I must tell you I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I think is great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found out some other interesting details to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs little water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
