I travel quite a lot for my work and so often end up eating alone in cafes. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in OMAHA NE where I ate at El Aquila Restaurant and I read a really interesting cover story about bamboo clothing. I did not realise you could make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a excellent possibility for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and purchased some basic items of clothing.
I have to tell you I was very impressed. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I think is incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some interesting details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo needs little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
