I travel quite a lot for my work and so usually end up having dinner by myself in cafes. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in ODONNELL TX where I ate at Lydias Dairy Mart and I came across a really interesting cover story on bamboo clothes. I did not realise you could make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a excellent option for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I went online and purchased a few basic items of clothing.
I have to admit I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be great. I also noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found some incredible details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo needs very little water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find more articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
