I move around a lot for my studies and so often end up having dinner alone in restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Recently, I was in NORTH READING MA where I ate at Hornet's Nest and I came across an interesting cover story about bamboo. I did not realise you could make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a excellent possibility for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and got a couple basic items of clothing.
I should tell you I was extremely impressed with the quality. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it from the washing machine which I think is incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
Check out the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic clothes stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo sheets.
After a bit more research I found out some interesting facts about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses very little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
