I travel quite a lot for my work and so regularly end up eating alone in local restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in NORCROSS GA where I ate at Thai Garden Restaurant and I read a new cover story to do with bamboo. I had no idea you could make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a great possibility for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I went online and got a few basic items of clothing.
I should say I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I found out some more amazing details on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
