I move around a lot for my work and so often end up having my dinner by myself in restaurants. I usually take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in NEW YORK NY where I ate at Ballato's Restaurant Inc and I read a new cover story on bamboo. I did not know you are able to make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a good choice for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and got a couple basic items of clothing.
I must admit I was very impressed. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I found to be amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I found some more amazing facts on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo requires very little water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
