I move around a lot for my work and so usually end up eating alone in restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in NEW YORK NY where I ate at Tokyo Lunch and I read an interesting piece on bamboo clothing. I did not know you could make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a good choice for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.
I must say I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I thought was incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.
After some more research I found out some other interesting details about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
