I move around a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having dinner alone in local restaurants. I often take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in NEW YORK NY where I ate at Gus Place and I came across an interesting piece about bamboo clothing. I had no idea you could make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a great option for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and bought a couple pieces of clothing.

I have to say I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I think is incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After some more research I discovered some other interesting details to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses little water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.

You can find some information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
