I move around a lot for my work and so often end up eating by myself in cafes. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in NEW YORK NY where I ate at Pizza Shack and I read a new piece on bamboo. I did not know you can make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a great choice for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and purchased a couple basic items of clothing.

I must admit I was extremely impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After some more research I discovered some more incredible facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of details on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
