I travel a lot for my studies and so often end up having dinner alone in local restaurants. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in NEW YORK NY where I ate at G & H Deli and I read an interesting article to do with bamboo. I did not know you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a great choice for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and bought a couple items of clothing.
I should tell you I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was amazing. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
Find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic apparel stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo linen.
After a little more research I discovered some more interesting facts about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
