I travel quite a lot for my studies and so regularly end up eating by myself in local restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in NEW ORLEANS LA where I ate at Cafe Marigny and I came across an interesting piece to do with bamboo. I did not know you could make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a great choice for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and got a few items of clothing.
I must admit I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I think is incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After some more research I found out some more interesting pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find more articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
