I travel a lot for my studies and so usually end up eating by myself in restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in NAPA CA where I ate at California Pizza and I read a new cover story about bamboo. I did not know you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a good option for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out for myself. I went online and bought a couple pieces of clothing.
I have to admit I was pretty impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I think is incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate doing ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothes stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After a little more research I found out some amazing facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
