I move around a lot for my job and so often end up eating all alone in local restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in NANTUCKET MA where I ate at Sushi by Yoshi and I saw a really interesting cover story on bamboo clothes. I did not know you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a good possibility for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I went online and got some pieces of clothing.

I must tell you I was pretty impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I thought was incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.

After some more research I discovered some amazing details on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires little water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, socks, throws, and baby clothes.

You can find some details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
