I travel quite a lot for my studies and so usually end up having my dinner by myself in cafes. I often take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in MUNSTER IN where I ate at Old Town Hall Restaurant and I came across an interesting article to do with bamboo clothes. I did not know you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a great choice for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.
I must say I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After some more research I found out some incredible details about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
