I travel quite a lot for my studies and so regularly end up eating all alone in local restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in MOLINE IL where I ate at Hardees Uptown and I saw a really interesting article on bamboo. I did not know you could make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent which means it is a excellent possibility for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and bought a few items of clothing.
I should tell you I was very impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic clothes stores where you can get organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After a little more research I found some incredible pieces of information about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
