I travel a lot for my studies and so regularly end up eating by myself in local restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in MISSOURI VALLEY IA where I ate at J-R'S Drive-In and I read a really interesting piece about bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a excellent possibility for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and got a few basic items of clothing.
I should say I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found out some interesting pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
