I move around a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having my dinner all alone in restaurants. I often take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in MILWAUKEE WI where I ate at Long Wong's and I saw an interesting piece about bamboo clothing. I did not know you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a excellent choice for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and bought a few items of clothing.
I should admit I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I found to be great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some more amazing pieces of information on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
