I travel a lot for my job and so regularly end up eating by myself in cafes. I usually take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in MILWAUKEE WI where I ate at North Shore Bistro and I saw a new article about bamboo clothing. I did not know you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a great choice for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and bought a couple pieces of clothing.
I should tell you I was pretty impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was almost dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I discovered some other incredible pieces of information about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo uses very little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
